[ 소개말 펴기 ]: Galleria has been one the most successful and highly acclaimed catalogue series ever. The French magazine Diapason declared in April 1993 of one new set of releases: "Generally brilliant, this special price series from DG seems this time to have surpassed even itself!"

The series has concentrated on offering a broad range of repertoire; not only the standard repertoire, including early and baroque music (on Archiv Galleria), but also works of special interest. FonoForum wrote in July 1993: "Mostly good, in some cases excellent interpretations offer the young, keen (and inexperienced) listener a reliable and by now rich spectrum of repertoire from which to find a well-known favourite or something completely new."

Indeed it is in the choice of repertoire that Galleria has received particular acclaim. Gramophone wrote in September 1999 of CD 457 915-2, Fischer Dieskau singing Schumann duets with Julia Varady: "This is a model of a mid-price reissue - interesting, neglected material performed to perfection with texts and translations provided".

Another such outstanding re-issue of non-standard repertoire, exceptionally interpreted by star artists, was CD 457 907-2, Kyung-Wha Chung and Krystian Zimerman playing Respighi and Richard Strauss' violin sonatas. Gramophone wrote of this in January 1999: "...a DG Galleria coupling of two little-known violin sonatas ... which hardly needs further recommendation from me, as on its first issue (2/90) it won a Gramophone Award. ... If you missed this first time round, here is a second chance!"
In general the releases cover DG's stereo recordings from the analogue era. Most of the newer issues have been remastered with DG's special Original-Image Bit-Processing technology. The distinctive coverwork presents a work by a well-known graphic artist set against a white background.

도이치 그라모폰에서 발매된 중가형 시리즈..

과거 아날로그 시절 녹음의 중가 재발매 시리즈이다. 첫 발매 시기는 1993년 4월이다. 디자인은 당시 정가반이 과거 LP표지를 그대로 옮기는 경우가 흔했던 것과는 달리 회화를 삽입하고 여백 부분에 제목을 써넣는 식이다.

과거 아날로그 녹음의 디지털 리마스터링이 컨셉이며, 이를 통하여 아날로그 녹음의 재발매 과정에서 생기는 노이즈를 줄일 수 있다고 주장하고 있다. 발매 초기에는 CD뿐 아니라 LP로도 출시된 적이 있는 시리즈. 보통 AAD 또는 ADD 방식이다.

이 시리즈의 대표 녹음 중에는 카라얀의 베토벤 교향곡 70년대 사이클이 포함되어 있다. 이중에서 베토벤 교향곡 9번만 DG 그랑프리로 LP표지 그대로 재발매 되었고 5번과 7번 교향곡은 다른 시리즈로 재발매되었다. 나머지는 심포니 에디션이나 카라얀 60s 같은 전집물을 통해서만 구할 수 있다.

디 오리지날 시리즈 및 2F1 시리즈와 겹치는 음반이 많으며 이와 같이 겹치는 시리즈는 자연스럽게 폐반되는 경우가 많다. 그런 이유로 이 시리즈의 녹음들이 많이 재발매된 현재는 갤러리아 시리즈의 음반을 구하기 힘든 편이다. 하지만 아직 다른 시리즈로의 재발매가 이루어지지 않은 일부 녹음( 칼 뵘의 모차르트 교향곡 25, 29, 31번이 대표 사례)은 여전히 어렵지 않게 구할 수 있다.

레퍼토리는 비교적 다양한 편이다 디 오리지날로는 잘 내놓지 않는 실내악 및 디 오리지날로 발매되지 않은 많은 음반들이 발매되었다.

그 외 이런 것도 있었어? 싶은 녹음도 있는데 다니엘 바렌보임과 핀커스 주커만이 협연하는 본 윌리엄스의 날아오르는 종달새와 다니엘 바렌보임의 프레데릭 딜리어스의 관현악곡이 커플링 된 녹음도 이 카탈로그로 재발매된 적이 있었다.

카탈로그의 개수는 많은데, 시리즈 전용 홈페이지를 두지 않았다. 심지어 카탈로그 내에서 보이는 음반들의 시리즈 분류 란도 공란이다. 하지만 당당히 D/GA라는 가격 코드가 있는, 한때는 매우 방대한 시리즈였다. 2000년대 중반까지는 매우 흔하게 유통되었지만, 그 이후로 많이 폐반되었고 요새는 이제 남아 있는 음반의 수가 적다.
