4. 뮤직비디오
상당히 파격적인 내용으로 화제가 되었다. 레오타드 차림의 비욘세와 두 백업댄서들이 나와서 춤을 추는 모습이 연출되는데, 손을 주먹을 쥐고 앞으로 치고 나가는 장면과 2:38초에 엉덩이를 치는 장면이 압권. MTV VMA에서 올해의 비디오상을 받았다. 이러한 뮤직비디오로 인해 필수요소화, 그야말로 레전설이 되어 버렸다. 동일 이유로 패러디들도 양산 중. 이렇게 화제가 되었던 만큼, 비욘세만큼이나 두 백업댄서들도 화제가 되었다.
유사한 사례로 스눕 독의 Drop It Like It's Hot 역시 흑백의 뮤직 비디오가 있는데, Smoke Weed Everyday 밈과 엮여서 패러디가 양산되고 있다.
5. 여담
많은 사람들이 후렴구의 가사를 "I'm a single lady"라고 알고 있다. 사실 실제 가사는 "'All the single ladies'"이다. 발음이 흡사하다 보니 빗어진 실수로 보인다.후렴구의 All the single ladies가 '엄마 싱크대'로 들리는 몬더그린으로도 화제가 되었다.
기묘하게도 뮤직비디오의 춤에 다른 음악을 덧붙여보면 희한하게 들이맞는 만능 춤이 되곤 한다는 점에서 상술했듯 필수요소화가 되었다.
