1. 개요
1995년 개봉한 디즈니 애니메이션 포카혼타스의 사운드트랙이다. 앨런 멩컨이 작곡, 스티븐 슈왈츠가 작사하였으며, 포카혼타스 역의 주디 쿤이 노래를 불렀다.작중 존 스미스가 원주민들을 야만인이라 지칭하자 포카혼타스가 자신들의 세계관을 존 스미스에게 설명해주는 노래이다. 자연의 신비로움과 싱그러움을 예찬하고 인간과 인간, 인간과 자연이 서로를 이해하고 포용할 것을 호소하는 노랫말을 가지고 있다. 한마디로 영화의 세계관을 설명하는 것을 넘어서 지구의 세계상 그 자체를 잘 표현한 노래이다.
1995년 제 68회 아카데미 시상식과 제 53회 골든 글로브 시상식에 주제가상 후보로 올랐으며 팝 버전을 부른 바네사 윌리엄스가 아카데미 시상식의 무대에 올라 직접 공연을 펼쳤다. 최종적으로 두 시상식에서 모두 주제가 상을 수상하는 영광을 누렸다. 또한 그래미 어워드에서 'Best song Written for a Movie' 부문을 수상했다.
바네사 윌리엄스가 부른 팝 버전은 빌보드 핫 100 4위에 올랐다.
