Translation of the original caption is: Fig. 1 Leucochloridium paradoxum dissected from the snail. At the tips of the older tubes, at the basal parts of which the secondary proliferations are developed to varying degrees, can be seen the large broodsacs, the gradual development and colouring of which are clearly presented here. The distension in the stem of the lowest broodsac is caused by a mature larva passing through it. The broodsac at the top middle is completely mature and has entered the tentacle of the snail, but the stalk is drawn much shorter here than it would be in the correct proportion, in order to save space. Enlargement approximately three times.
